Committee Reports:
· Roads, Sidewalks, Mailboxes:
-Sidewalk repair is still needed as specified in the Mason and Mason Report at 332 Bridgewater, 29 Dayton, 10 Shadwell and 5 Emery. (10 Elberon was repaired.) We will ask Jim Stagner to follow-up on the progress of the repair.
· SWM Ponds:
-Work at the SWM ponds along Gladstone, Bridgewater and Reston Dr., and the wet pond on Harborton will begin this month. Hydro seeding around the ponds will be done when the pond work is completed.
-Janie Cindric attended a meeting with the County and the Farrar group concerning the stream bed that runs between the Villa wall and Smithfield. Work has begun in that area, and the stream is being realigned.
· Grounds and Landscaping:
-Janie Cindric has written an article for the May Gazette explaining the care of the common grounds by Shenandoah Landscape Services and the Farrar group.
-Netting still covers some of our common ground, and the Farrar people will remove it when the grass has become better established.
-The BOD approved the Shenandoah proposal for spring/summer annuals. They also approved the proposal for refurbishing the garden between the community center and the pool, where hardy shrubs and grasses will replace the dead or dying bushes.
-The Shenandoah proposal to draw up a Master Plan for the common areas has been tabled by the BOD until May.
-Some residents have inquired about donating plants, trees, or benches to be placed in or on the common ground. The committee will recommend to the Board:
1) That residents not be permitted to plant trees or shrubs, or place benches on common ground for the following reasons: Doing so will impede Shenandoah's lawn maintenance; the responsibility of weeding and mulching would become Shenandoah’s at the entire community’s expense; the selected tree or shrub may not fit in with an over-all landscape design; and benches must be safe, sturdy, and permanently anchored into the ground.
2) Once a Master Plan has been developed, interested residents will then have an opportunity to donate a shrub, tree or bench in an area that has been given a landscape design.
Farrar Progress:
-Testing of the walls continues and should be completed by mid May.
-As mentioned above, work in the SWM ponds continues.
Charter:
-The BOD asked each committee to review it’s Charter.
-We reviewed the Property and Grounds Charter and believe that it is correct as we see the tasks of this committee. It will be sent back to the Board with one change. The words “and the management company” will be added to the first paragraph.
Old Business:
-The 2007 Priority List and Wish List has not been addressed by the Board.
Next Meeting:
-May 10, 2007, 1:00 pm, in Meeting Room 2.
