Committee Reports
· Roads, Sidewalks, Mailboxes:
-Sidewalk repair is still needed as specified in the Mason and Mason Report.
Jim Stagner will follow-up on the progress of the repair.
· SWM Ponds:
-Work in the SWM ponds along Gladstone, Bridgewater and Reston Dr. will commence as the weather warms up.
· Grounds and Landscaping:
-Shenandoah has begun cleaning and edging the plant and flower beds, and will soon add mulch to the beds.
-The warm weather in December and January, followed by the coldest February in 30 years, has not been kind to our grassy areas. The extreme freezing and thawing of the ground has caused the new grass roots to lift out of the ground. For that reason, the plastic netting that is covering much of our common ground will stay in place until the grass roots become better anchored into the ground. The netting will be removed by the Farrar people when the time is right.
-At the appropriate time Shenandoah will spread the pre-emergent crab grass killer over all of the common ground, including the area still covered with the netting.
-Shenandoah has asked our patience this spring. In some areas they may not cut the grass until it reaches 6 or 7 inches in height. This will allow the new grass to become better established.
-Shenandoah has recommended that rain gages be installed to monitor the irrigation system around the Community Center. The gauges will detect when it is raining, thus preventing the system from activating and wasting water. (Sylva will follow-up with the Board on the proposal for the rain gauges.)
-Some residents have inquired about donating plants, or trees, or benches to be placed in or on the common ground. With the approval of the Board, a procedure to do so will be established.
-The committee is investigating the possibility of planting pine seedlings on the hill along Gladstone to prevent erosion.
· Farrar Progress:
-Testing of the block walls will continue for the next few weeks. Notice will be given to residents who live in the areas of work.
-The plastic netting that is covering much of the common ground will be removed when the grass has become established this spring.
-As mentioned above, work in the SWM ponds will soon begin.
· Snow Removal:
-The contract with Goodfellers for snow removal will be renewed for the 2007-2008 year. This committee, Armstrong Management, the Board and Goodfellers met to discuss snow plowing issues. Armstrong Management will prepare a list of guidelines to inform residents how they can expedite snow plowing.
· Old Business:
-The Property and Grounds Charter presented to the Board has not been addressed by the Board as yet.
-The 2007 Priority List and Wish List has not been addressed by the Board as yet.
Next Meeting: April 12, 2007, 1:00 pm, in Meeting Room 2.
