A
Grounds and Landscaping Sub-Committee meeting was held on Tuesday, February 7,
2006 at the Community Center. Our
primary purpose was to meet with Gordon and Larry, representatives from
Shenandoah Landscape Services, Inc. Shenandoah
will now be responsible for the care and maintenance of the common ground in
Falls Run.
Gordon
will be overseeing the routine maintenance and Larry will work with us in
making short term and long term plans for the enhancement of the common
ground. Two areas of concern they
see as critical are the eroded areas and the need for amending the soil if
grass is to grow the deep roots necessary to become established.
The meeting ended with a walk through the community with Gordon and
Larry to hear some of their suggestions on how they would improve the common
ground.
The
committee stresses that it will take time for the common ground to reach
residents’ expectations. Grass
seed will not be sowed until the fall. The
storm water management (SWM) ponds are still in need of work that will be done
by Del Webb. Hence, Shenandoah
will not be working in the SWM pond areas until Del Webb turns them over to us
in their final form.
Shenandoah
is excited about taking on the responsibility of improving our common ground.
They are committed to, and promise to have, our community looking
neater and more esthetically pleasing in the near future.
They have many good ideas but, again, it will take time to accomplish
all of our goals.
You
will soon see workers in green shirts and jackets; Shenandoah’s uniform, as
they begin the winter clean-up.
