The Villas Board of Directors has been busy over the past couple of months lining up contracts for 2010 and working on projects to be completed in 2009. I thought it would be a good idea to bring you all up to date.
Landscape Management: The BOD selected TruGreen LandCare L.L.C. for landscape
management in 2010. The contract is effective for one year beginning January 1, 2010.
Jerry Simon will be the guest speaker at the Association's Annual Meeting scheduled for
November 12, 2009 at 7:00 PM. ^
Snow Clearing: The Boards for both FRCA and the Villas agreed earlier in the year that it
was essential that both Associations contracted with the same company for this important
function. Both Boards selected Goodfellers so no further negotiation is required.
Termite Protection: The BOD is still working on this contract. We have requested proposals
from two additional providers. This is a costly item and we want to get the right product at the
lowest cost possible.
Tree Care: Many comments have been received throughout this year regarding the condition
of trees. The BOD has contracted with Bartlett Tree Experts to provide a variety of services.
They are:
o In the very near future, remove the Tulip Poplar located at the end of Turtle Creek
o During the Fall, excavate soil and mulch from the lower stem of most trees using an
Air-Spade and compressor. Stem girdling roots will be removed if feasible.
o During Winter, trees will be pruned to provide improved structure as well as clearance
We don't have the schedule yet, but it will be posted on our web page when we have dates.
Nine trees have been identified for removal. We have asked for proposals from Bartlett and Shenandoah to remove the nine trees and replace them in kind. One additional tree, removed earlier, will also be replaced. More info on this to come.
I am out of room. Next month, I'll bring you up to date concerning atrium doors, poured concrete walls, the well project, and bush replacement.
We have two candidates for this year's election. They are Don Webb and Sanya Warren-Ham. The "Meet The Candidates" session is scheduled for October 28 at 7:00 PM. Plan to vote and plan to attend the Annual Meeting on November 12, 2009, at 7:00 PM.
