Michael Wheelehan will play our favorites on the veranda, and the pool will be

Our guest speaker will be Krystal Ball, the Democratic nominee for the 1st Congressional District, US House of Representatives. Candidate Ball is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a degree in economics, and she owns an educational software business. Light refreshments will be served. This month’s selection is Hotel at the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford. Set in  Seattle during WWII, it tells the story of the tribulations of Asian people during the time of Japanese internment. There is no meeting in August. Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament (Hanover, Maryland)

Thursday • July 15 • $78 per person

As guests of the castle, we will enjoy an authentic medieval feast as the majesty and grandeur of a centuries-old tournament comes to life. Cost includes transportation, feast, a two-hour show and driver gratuity. 

A Day at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (Richmond)

Tuesday • August 3 • Bus departs Center at 10am and returns around 3pm.

Enjoy all the museum has to offer including the spectacular Tiffany: Color and Light exhibit, featuring 180 examples of this great artist’s best work. VMFA is the only American museum to show this exhibit. Lunch will be on your own at the museum cafe. Cost of $38 per person includes a guided tour of the Tiffany exhibit, transportation and driver gratuity.

Charles Town Races and Slots

Friday • August 13 • Bus departs Center at 1pm and leaves after last race
at 11:15pm.

Enjoy live racing as well as the slots and table games at the new Hollywood Casino. Minimum 35; maximum 45. Choose plan at signup, which begins July 2. Both include transportation and driver gratuity as well as a $15 gift card for the slots. With dinner on your own, cost is $25 per person. With dinner in Skyline Terrace, cost is $60 per person. Thursday • August 26 • Bus departs Center at 4:30pm • $57 per person

Buy food at the stadium, or bring your own in a soft-sided bag. The cost includes transportation, driver gratuity and admission. See flyer at the Center for rain delay guidelines.

Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Wednesday-Friday • October 6-8  

Enjoy two nights at the historic Gettysburg Hotel. Experience Gettysburg National Military Park & Museum’s film and Cyclorama, take a guided tour of the battlefield and cemetery, and visit the Eisenhower National Historic Site. Cost of $252 per person does not include meals; reasonably-priced restaurants are close by. Non-refundable $100 deposit is due by Friday, July 16, with balance due by Friday, September 10.
